As reported in his blog German researcher Martin Herfurt, he was able to crack the Samsung TVs with the SmartTV.

The expert noted that a successful cyber attack carried out from a remote computer to broadcast programs on technology HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV), which used in TVs Samsung.

After he managed to break the system to replace the broadcast, get the ability to create fake subtitles and even generate a currency for peer to peer payment system Bitcoin, as well as perform other unauthorized actions.

According to the hacker, hacking managed to carry as TVs uses the built-in WebKit browser versions 1.1 and JavaScript, at which there is a number of not eliminated vulnerabilities. What’s more, Samsung doesn’t use in the TVs of enciphering of SSL that considerably facilitates a task to hackers and allows them to substitute a content directly during translation.

TV channels and manufacturers need to put security centre-stage to stop hackers taking.
